How often should I worm my cat?

Cats should be wormed to protect them from intestinal parasites including roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm, on the following schedule;

  • Every 2 weeks from birth to 12 weeks of age
  • Monthly from 12 weeks to 6 months of age
  • Then every 3 months

If you have an outdoor cat or a cat that potentially eats frogs, geckos or lizards they should be wormed for Spirometra Tapeworm which requires a tapeworm tablet at a specific dose.
