My horse has Greasy Heel, what can I use on him to help this?
The first step to treating greasy heel is to try and remove as much of the scab as possible by washing the affected area with a medicated shampoo. Malaseb is an antifungal and antibacterial shampoo that works really well on breaking down the scabs and treating the area. Wet the area and massage the Malaseb into a lather and then allow it to stand for 10 minutes. Then use a soft brush or cloth and try to rub off the scabs but try to avoid abrading the skin and making it bleed (although this might happen with some of the deep scabs). Rinse the area off and pat dry. Then apply an ointment to the area, with antifungal and antibacterial properties, like Kelato QuickHEAL or StopGreasy. Repeat this washing and ointment process every day or two.
