How Does Sentinel Kill Fleas?

I’ve heard that Sentinel does not kill adult fleas. So how does it protect against fleas if it doesn’t kill them?

Sentinel Spectrum protects against fleas by killing them before they become adults and thereby stopping the flea lifecycle.

The adult fleas you see on your dog are only a tiny part of the problem. Living in the carpet, floor boards, dog bedding etc. are thousands and thousands of flea eggs, larvae and pupae. These “environmental stages” can quickly develop into adult fleas that jump onto your pet. Products that only kill adult fleas do not prevent these environmental stages from developing into adult fleas, nor do they kill adult fleas before they have a chance to lay eggs. This means that the environment acts as a continual source of infestation for your dog.

Sentinel Spectrum stops the environmental stages (flea eggs and larvae) from developing into adult fleas. So over a period of a few weeks to months Sentinel effectively “cleans” the home environment and thus stops adult fleas from developing and infecting your dog.

    1. Hi Valerie,
If you think that the Sentinel is not working I suggest contacting the manufacturer, Elanco, to discuss.
