What are attention seeking behaviours in dogs?

Any behaviour that is displayed with the intention to get your attention can be considered attention seeking behaviours. Your attention may be as subtle as just a glance.

Attention seeking behaviours may look like:

  • Vocalisation – barking, whining
  • Jumping up
  • Pawing at you
  • Scratching – themselves or something else
  • Tail chasing
  • Stealing items
  • Any behaviour that has got attention in the past
